The Tower Tarot Card Meaning

The Imagery and Symbolic Meanings of the Tower Tarot Card

There is a tower that is struck by a lightning bolt. The Tower is a symbol of power and grandeur and it depicts the hope for the future. A tower is also considered a phallic symbol. Light symbolizes knowledge and wisdom and a sudden strike by lightning bolt means sudden awareness and destruction of ignorance. It symbolizes a sudden revelation. The grey clouds in the background show short-lived bad events and the black color symbolize power, strength, and aggression. A crown is blown off the top of the tower. The Crown is a symbol of power and authority and it shows that there is a loss of power, authority, and status. Male and female figures are falling off the tower. Their blue dress depicts, trust, wisdom, and confidence but nothing is helping them. They are falling headfirst and there are rocks at the bottom of the card that also shows difficult times. There are 22 flames in the background. These flames represent 22 cards of major arcana and also there are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. In the Kabbalah, there are 22 paths between the Sephirot.

Astrology and the Tower

The path of the Tower card is ruled by the planet Mars. Mars is the planet of aggression, sexuality, self-assertion, energy, impulsiveness, quick action, and courage. Mars is the god of war and the ruler of Aries. Aries corresponds to the Emperor Tarot card. When we are acting out our Mars, we are assertive and adventurous. Mars is fast, instinctive, rash, aggressive, and angry just like the Tower tarot card.

The Tower and Kabbalah

The path of the Tower on Tree of life is called Pe or Peh which means mouth. We nourish the body through the mouth and we also speak through our mouth.

This path connects Hod (Splendor) to Netzach (Victory). This path is also known as the path of Personality.

The Tower as a Person

This card represents people who have changed after some drastic change of events in their lives. If you knew them a long time back, it is time to understand that they have faced chaos and adversities which have made them realize the meaning of life. They have gotten their wake-up call. They have fallen from their pedestal of ignorance and now their thoughts have changed. This card may represent insecure and afraid people.

On the contrary, this card also denotes people who get emotional outbursts and can say anything to anyone on their faces. These people are capable of shaking up the lives of others.

If this card appears in a general reading, it means that a sudden and destructive change is taking place but do not worry, we will learn life-changing lessons from that experience. Ambitions on false premises are shaken up by a revelation of wisdom and truth. A sudden incident will make you reevaluate your lifestyle and preferences. This card is a card of Chaos. You are maybe losing your power and position but you should know that you should embrace the change and move on. A sudden change of job, home, or any other significant change is also possible when this card appears. Whatever shakes up might come your way, you should be assured that you will be released from false concepts and have an awakening of spirit.

The Tower Tarot Card in a Daily reading

If The Tower Tarot Card appears in a daily reading, embrace yourself for a sudden, unexpected and unpleasant change. This change will be unexpected but you have to make room for this change. In the long run, this change will prove to be beneficial for you but today it will be chaotic and destructive. Many times this card appears in my readings when an earthquake jolted the region where I live. I have also heard that before 911, this card appeared in the readings of many people.
